Instrumentation: oud, kanun, violin, percussion, electric guitar, electric bass, synthesizer, drums and interactive electronic processing

Duration: 6 minutes

Composer Note:
Two ensembles take part in my work The Counterpoint of Palestina: a rock ensemble, brutal and loud (electric guitar, electric bass, synthesizer and drums), and an authentic Arabic ensemble (oud, violin, Kanun and percussion). These represent western and Arabic cultures respectively. The rock players play fragments of Zionist songs (‘When you come to the Land’, ‘A Land of Milk and Honey’, etc.). The Arabic ensemble plays fragments of Arabic folk songs. In accordance with the cultural reality, the work begins with a dialogue of the deaf, and develops to a strident and dissonant argument, similarly to the bloodstained history of the region.
