Where
Cornelius Dufallo and Guy Barash present Minutes – a series of miniatures for violin and electronics – as part of an evening exploring new and recent work by composers of The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life’s Jewish Composers’ Working Group. Mirroring the working group’s eclectic discourse over its 6-months of meeting, the music of this concert engages with a broad variety of themes including prayer, place, story-telling, tragedy, and comedy.
Additional works featured include arias from new and recent operas by Joseph Rubinstein, Daniel Schlosberg, and Rachel J. Peters; works for electronics and violin by Lainie Fefferman; Yiddish and Hebrew art songs by Alex Weiser, Karen Siegel and Jeremiah Lockwood; and a presentation from Chaia’s Kleztronica project. Librettists include Jacqueline Goldfinger, Danielle Durchslag and Amanda Quaid. Performers for the evening also include guest artists Katherine Henly and Rachel Doehring Jackson.
